Lydia Jones Commits to Central Florida

(Melbourne, Florida) Melbourne Central Catholic senior forward Lydia Jones has signed a National Letter of Intent to play soccer for the Lady Golden Knights.

Jones has been a four-year starter in high school, which included leading the Melbourne Central Catholic Hustlers to the Class 3A state championship in 2004, and selected as team MVP. She was named 2nd team All-state in '04, and voted both players' and coaches' MVP in her sophomore year.

This year Lydia leads the #6 ranked Hustlers in goals and assists - scoring 70 career goals and 46 assists during her high school play. She plays club soccer for Lakeland / Three Lions, and was a member of the Florida '86 ODP team.

"Lydia will bring passion, heart and an all new work ethic to UCF and their practices.  Lydia possesses what every High School and College coach looks for when evaluating success for their soccer program - an Inner strength and desire to WIN.  This is something that a true winner in life and sports possess.  MCC will miss Lydia's leadership presence, however UCF will gain a wonderful budding star."  - Lydia's high school coach, Scott Armstrong
