Caitlin Miskel Commits to
Virginia
May 28, 2005 - Caitlin Miskel, the St. Thomas High School and Renegades
midfielder, has orally committed to the University of Virginia for the
2006-2007 season.
Miskel was the 2005 Gatorade Player of the Year and an NCSAA
All-American. She plays on the US National ODP team and led St. Thomas
to a state championship this year.
Virginia is considered one of the top programs in the country. The
school won the ACC championship this year, defeating North Carolina on
PKs. They were the number 3 seed going into the NCAA tournament, but got
upset by Duke 2-1 in the second round.
''She was very highly recruited,'' Raiders coach Carlos Giron said.
``She's going to be able to go in and have an impact on the team right
away.''
With her college decision made up, Miskel can now concentrate on getting
St. Thomas to another championship.
''It could work in her advantage,'' Giron said. ``She still is going to
work hard, but at least she'll be a little more relaxed as far as the
college situation being taken care of.''
