FIU Freshman Selected to Play on
Trinidad and Tobago National U-20 Team
MIAMI - Freshman Kia Rigsby was one of 20 players recently selected to
represent Trinidad and Tobago at the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Final
Qualifying
Tournament, being held in Mexico Jan. 18-27. The top three finishers in
the
tournament will advance to the U-20 world championship being held in
Russia
Aug. 16-Sept. 2, 2006.
As a defender, Rigsby finished her freshman season for the Golden
Panthers,
playing in 14 matches and earning a starting nod in 12 of them. Joining
Rigsby on the team are five other U.S. college standouts, Kermica
Alexander
from the University of Memphis, Marissa and Maria Mohammed from the
University of Tampa, Maylee Attin-Johnson from Cumberland University,
Shurell Burton from Nova Southeastern University.
Rigsby and her teammates was drawn into Group which features host
Mexico,
Canada and Panama, which will be played in Veracruz at Luis Pirata
Fuentes
Stadium. The first and second place finishers in the groups after
first-round play will meet in the semifinals in Veracruz on Jan. 25. The
championship game and consolation match, which will determine the final
spot
in Russia, will also take place in Veracruz on Jan. 27.
