Orange Men Sign Two Players from
Florida
COLLEGE COMMITMENTS FOR 2006
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Orange men’s soccer program has received
commitments from nine high school standouts to attend Syracuse
University and compete as members of the men’s soccer team in 2006, SU
head coach Dean Foti announced on Friday, March 31. Scott Campbell
(Marcellus, N.Y.), Pete Hill (Pittsford, N.Y.), Erik Kreider (Webster,
N.Y.), Geoff Lytle (Miami Beach, Fla.), Ryan McCormick (Cranston, R.I.),
Daniel Sherry (Louisville, Ky.), Elliott Townsend (Freeport, Maine),
Hansen Woodruff (Stuart, Fla.) and Jake Young (Blandon, Pa.) have all
committed to the Orange for next season.
A member of the two-time district champion Miami Beach Hi-Tides, Lytle
was an All-Dade County first-team choice in 2005. He notched eight goals
and contributed 23 helpers as a senior. Lytle also helped the West
Kendall SC to the 2005 state title and was a member of the Super
Y-League ODP Regional Team.
Woodruff won the prestigious 2006 Florida Dairy Farmers Boys Soccer
Player of the Year Award and guided South Fork to the 2004 and 2006
district titles. He scored 37 goals and racked up 28 assists in his
senior campaign and finished his career with 86 goals and 52 helpers. He
was a three-time all-area selection by The Palm Beach Post and the
Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers. Woodruff also earned first-team
all-state recognition as a football player in 2005.
The Orange begins its spring season on Saturday, April 1 with scrimmages
against Colgate and Albany in Hamilton, N.Y. SU earned a berth in the
BIG EAST Championship last season and finished with an overall record of
7-8-4. |
