The Spiders will add four new faces for the 2007 campaign.
Feb. 28, 2007
UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Richmond women's soccer head coach Peter
Albright announced today that four highly decorated and accomplished
high school seniors have signed to play for the Spiders. Samantha Depken,
Jordan Kent, Nicole Locantore and Jordan Settimio will complete
the Spiders' recruiting class of 2007, which Albright describes as being
"a group of leaders, fighters and champions."
Included in this class is a goalkeeper, two midfielders and a forward,
all of whom will compete for first-team status on the 2007 squad. "I
think that each one of them will bring special talents, personality and
big game experience to our team," said Albright.
Depken (Ramapo High School, N.J.) Ramapo High's 5'9" goalkeeper, led her
team to a 20-3-1 record and the 2006 NJ State Championship, earning
All-League, All-County and All-State Honors. The 2006 North Jersey
Sports.com Female Athlete of the Year, Depken also plays shortstop on
the State Championship Softball Team and point guard on the State
Finalist basketball team for Ramapo.
Kent (Lake Highlands Prep, Fla.) scored 33 goals and led her Lake
Highland Prep team to the 2006 Florida State Championship. A 5'11"
center forward, she plays her Club soccer for FC KUMBA.
Locantore, (Wayne Hills HS, NJ) a playmaking midfielder, was named 2006
Passaic County Player of the Year. She scored nine goals and assisted on
11 others as she captained her team to the Regional Finals and a 20-2
record.
Settimio (Peters Township HS, PA) is a powerful 5'9"center midfielder
who registered 13 goals and 27 assists while captaining her Peters
Township team to an undefeated regular season. She plays Club Soccer for
PA West State Champions Beadling Soccer Club.
The Spiders, returning 10 starters and 21 players from an arduous 2006
campaign, look to strengthen their battle-hardened team as they prepare
to launch the 2007 season.
