Former Bull To Be Highlighted During National Team Game On ESPN2

TAMPA, Fla. (July 10, 2007) – Former University of South Florida women’s soccer standout Siri Nordby (Oesteraas, Norway) makes her return to the United States this weekend as the Norwegian women’s soccer National Team plays the U.S. Women’s National Team on Saturday, July 14 at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Conn. The game will be broadcast live at 6 p.m. on ESPN2 and on ussoccer.com’s MatchTracker.

Nordby, who is one of only a few Norwegian players with ties to the U.S., will be highlighted by ESPN2 throughout the game.

The match will feature the world’s first (US) and fourth (Norway) ranked teams in the world, both of which are favorites to win the 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup being held Sept. 10-30 in China.

Nordby played soccer for USF from 1997-00, and holds the school’s career record in points (110), goals (41), assists (28), shots (252) and games started (70). Nordby helped USF put together three consecutive winning seasons from 1997-99. In her four-year career, she received several honors including: four-time all-conference player, C-USA Offensive Player of the Week and Soccer Buzz Freshman All-American in 1998.

In 2005 Nordby was selected to the Conference-USA All-Decade Team. At that time, she was ranked first all-time in C-USA in shots (252), third in goals (41), third in points (110) and seventh in assists (28).

Nordby, who graduated in May 2001 with a degree in mass communications, currently plays professionally for both the Norwegian National Team and for ROA Oslo.
