Three Gator Soccer Players on
2007 Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy Watch List

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Three University of Florida soccer players are among
the 45 players included in the Women's 2007 Hermann Trophy Watch List
released by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America
(NSCAA) today.
The Gators among the Watch List for this player of the year honor
includes:
Ameera Abdullah (Jr., MF)
● 2006 NSCAA All-America third team
● 2006 SoccerBuzz.com All-America third team
● All-SEC first team & SEC All-Tournament team in 2006
● Two-time SEC Offensive Player of the Week (Oct. 9 & Oct 16,
2006) & SoccerBuzz.com National Team of the Week (Oct.18, 2006)
● Second among 2006 UF scorers with 11 goals and 24 points
Stacy Bishop (RS-Sr., F)
● 2006 NSCAA All-America third team
● All-SEC first team & SEC All-Tournament team in 2006
● SEC Offensive Player of the Week (Aug. 28, 2006)
● SoccerBuzz.com National Team of the Week (Sept. 8, 2006)
● Led UF points in (30), goals (12), assists (6) and game-winning
goals (6) in 2006
Lauren Hyde (So., D)
● Soccer America Freshman All-America second team
● All-SEC first team & SEC All-Tournament team in 2006
● Led UF in 2006 in total minutes played from her center back
position, averaging more than 91 minutes per match
Florida shares second with Notre Dame and Portland with its three
players on the list. Reigning NCAA champion North Carolina leads all
programs with four included on the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List.
During the course of the 2007 regular season, Florida will face four
other teams with players on the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List - Florida
State (1 player), Illinois (2), Notre Dame (3) and Tennessee (1). The
Gators will also meet Texas A&M, a program with two on the Watch List,
in an Aug. 25 exhibition match at the James G. Pressly Stadium.
Players are selected to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List by a committee
of Division I coaches who are NSCAA members. In November, the list will
be narrowed to 15 semifinalists. Three finalists will be named in early
December in conjunction with the NCAA Division I College Cup and will be
invited to the Missouri Athletic Club on Friday, January 11, 2008. The
winner of the 2007 award will be announced during a nationally-televised
news conference that evening.
