USF Women Beat Tampa, 1-0

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of South Florida women’s soccer team beat
the University of Tampa, 1-0, in the first outing of the season Saturday
night at the USF Soccer Stadium.
Junior forward Lindsay Brauer (Daytona Beach, Fla.) notched the only
goal in the three-period, 70-minute exhibition match. Sophomore
midfielder Kaneile Thomas (Royal Palm Beach, Fla.) sent a lead pass to
Brauer, who crossed the ball into the upper left 90 of the net for USF’s
goal.
“I’m happy we won,” said Denise Schilte-Brown after her first game as
the head coach of the Bulls. “By the end of the game we had accomplished
the goals we had set out for the night.”
The Bulls continue exhibition play August 21 in Orlando as the USF faces
Northern Illinois at 7 p.m., then plays UCF August 25 at the same time
and place.
USF’s regular season debut is August 31 in DeLand when the Bulls meet
the Stetson Hatters at 4 p.m.
The Bulls’ first home game is September 28 against preseason No. 10,
Connecticut, at 7:30 p.m.
