Four Gator Soccer Players on 2007 Preseason All-SEC List

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Four University of Florida soccer players are among the first soccer coaches preseason All-Southeastern Conference team, the league office released Thursday. Florida, the preseason pick by the coaches to repeat as SEC champions, led all teams with its four selections.

Florida's Stacy Bishop and Georgia's Carrie Patterson were unanimous selections. The coaches preseason All-SEC team consists of a minimum of
11 players. Each SEC Head Soccer Coach voted for three forwards, three midfielders, three defenders, one goalkeeper and one at-large candidate.
No ties were broken. The Gators among the SEC Soccer Preseason List
includes:

Ameera Abdullah (Jr., MF)
● 2006 NSCAA All-America third team
● 2006 SoccerBuzz.com All-America third team
● All-SEC first team & SEC All-Tournament team in 2006
● Two-time SEC Offensive Player of the Week (Oct. 9 & Oct 16,
2006) & SoccerBuzz.com National Team of the Week (Oct.18, 2006)
● Second among 2006 UF scorers with 11 goals and 24 points

Lauren Hyde (So., D)
● Soccer America Freshman All-America second team
● All-SEC first team & SEC All-Tournament team in 2006
● Led UF in 2006 in total minutes played from her center back
position, averaging more than 91 minutes per match

Florida will be tested in a pre-season exhibition match versus Texas A&M, set for Saturday, Aug. 25. Match time is set for 6 p.m. at the James G. Pressly Stadium. Saturday's exhibition match features two NSCAA Preseason top-15 teams, as Texas A&M is No. 5 and Florida checks in at No. 13 on the list released Aug. 14. Both teams are the defending champion in their conference, as Texas A&M took the Big 12 crown with
its 9-1 record. The Gator team will be signing autographs following
Saturday's exhibition match. Play for the 2007 season starts Friday, Aug. 31 at 7 p.m. when Florida plays host to Indiana.
