Barry women drop season opener
8/24/07
DENVER, Colo. – The Barry University women’s soccer team (0-1-0) dropped
their first match of the season to the Regis University Rangers, 3-1, on
Friday afternoon at Ranger Field.
Within the first four minutes of the game, senior Erin Bevacqua scored
the first goal of the season for the Rangers. Regis picked the lucky
card of the day as junior Carter Cornett scored the second goal for the
Rangers from the unfortunate reflection off of Barry’s keeper Sami
Cromartie’s shin to put Barry down 2-0 within the first 20 minutes.
With less than ten minutes reminaing in the game, Ranger defenders
successfully cleared the ball only to be put back in by junior Kalie
Adkinson. Adkinson’s power kick was just enough to clear the heads of
the Ranger defenders and reach awaiting junior Elanna Brady for the
Buccaneers’ first and only goal of the game.
The Buccaneers will close out their time in Colorado on Sunday, Aug. 26
against Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colo. at 11:00 am.
