MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers silenced the Georgia
Southwestern Hurricanes 4-0 at Buccaneer Field in men’s soccer on Friday
night.
The Bucs (2-1-0) got four goals from four different players to beat the
‘Canes (0-4-0). Lee Yakubowich got the game-winner in the 11th minute
with assists from Tommy Nodland and Ryan Alexander. Alexander added a
goal of his own in the 22nd minute when Diego Lucio threaded a pass up
the middle and Alexander out-raced the defense to beat Hurricane keeper
Alex Crandall.
In the second half, Pedro Petris and Mark Kilpatrick padded the lead
with assists from Julio Arnaiz and Nenad Savic respectively.
Devala Gorrick made two saves to preserve his first career shutout as
the Bucs held a 23-3 edge in shots.
Crandall had seven saves for GSW before giving way to John Scharnikow
who made two saves over the last 11:40.
The Bucs are back in action at Buccaneer Field on Sunday, Sept. 2
against the Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters at 2:30 pm.
