Finalists for Dairy Farmers Girls Awards
GAINESVILLE (May 6) -- The five finalists for the 2008 Florida Dairy
Farmers Girls’ Soccer Player and Coach-of-the-Year have been announced
following balloting by a statewide panel of high school soccer coaches
and prep media representatives.
Each of the finalists was the leading vote-getter in their
classification, making them Player-of-the-Year or Coach-of-the-Year in
that class. The awards are sponsored by Florida Dairy Farmers, Inc., and
the Florida Athletic Coaches Association to honor the top high school
soccer player and coach for the 2007-08 season. The two winners will be
announced following a final round of balloting by coaches and media.
The five finalists for the Girls’ Soccer Player-of-the-Year Award
include:
Lindsay Wilkinson, Wellington, senior, forward, 6A Player-of-the-Year.
Wilkinson finished the season with 29 goals and 17 assists, leading her
team
to a 24-3-1 record and the Class 6A state title.
Kayla Grimsley, Lakeland George Jenkins, senior, midfielder, 5A
Player-of-the-Year.
Grimsley finished the season with 44 goals, and 33 assists, leading her
team
to a 29-0-2 record and the Class 5A state title.
¬¬¬¬Lisa Heise, Ponte Vedra Nease, senior, forward, 4A
Player-of-the-Year.
Heise finished the season with 17 goals and 7 assists, leading her team
to a 21-2-6 record and the Class 4A state title.
¬¬Caroline Triglia, Jacksonville Bolles, sophomore, midfielder, 3A
Player-of-the-Year.
Triglia finished the season with 35 goals and 29 assists, helping lead
her team
to a 28-1-1 record and the Class 3A state title.
Chelsea Klotz, Tampa Preparatory, senior, forward, 2A
Player-of-the-Year.
Klotz finished the season with 60 goals and 15 assists, leading her team
to a 26-1-1 record and the Class 2A state title.
The five finalists for Girls’ Soccer Coach-of-the-Year include:
Pam Smith, Tampa Preparatory, 14th Year, Class 2A Coach-of-the-Year.
Tampa Prep finished the season with a 26-1-1 record and won the Class 2A
state title. In her six years at Tampa Prep, Coach Smith’s teams have
won three district titles, made one Final Four appearance and won one
state title (2008). She has a career record of 85-33-9.
Matt Tracy, Jacksonville Bolles, 7th year, Class 3A Coach-of-the-Year.
Bolles finished the season with a 28-1-1 record and won the Class 3A
state championship. In his three years at Bolles, Coach Tracy’s teams
have won three district titles, made two Final Four appearances and won
one state title (2008). He has a career record of 87-49-13.
Dave Silverberg, Ponte Vedra Nease, 6th year, Class 4A
Coach-of-the-Year.
Nease finished with a 21-2-6 record and won the Class 4A state
championship. Coach Silverberg’s teams have won five district titles,
made four Final Four appearances and won four state titles (2002, 2005,
2006, 2008). He has a career record of 150-19-24.
Joe Lenard, Lakeland George Jenkins, 5th year, Class 5A
Coach-of-the-Year.
George Jenkins finished with a 29-0-2 record and won the Class 5A state
championship. Coach Lenard’s teams have won four district titles, made
two Final Four appearances and won a state title (2008). He has a career
record of 80-37-5.
Michael Kozlowski, Wellington, 4th year, Class 6A Coach-of-the-Year.
Wellington finished with a 24-3-1 record and won the Class 6A state
championship. Coach Kozlowski’s teams have won three district titles,
made one Final Four appearance and won a state title (2008). He has a
career record of 76-18-3.

athletes,
coaches and scholars in all 24 FHSAA-sanctioned sports for 16
