West Pines wins dual player of year honors
WEST PINES UNITED F.C. GIRLS U18 team proudly boasts PLAYER OF
THE YEAR honors in BOTH Broward and Dade counties at the
recent Miami Herald Athletic Awards annual breakfasts. APRIL
PERRY (Hollywood Hills High School) won the Broward County 5A-6A
Girls High School Soccer Player of the Year award at the Broward event
(on May 22nd) while her WPU teammate ALLIE LLANERAS (Miami
Springs Senior High) won the Dade County 5A-6A Girls High School Soccer
Player of the Year award at the Dade event (on May 27th). Both girls
will play college ball locally, April at FIU and Allie at
Barry University. Each were named to their respective counties
Senior All Star Games and were Scholar Athlete scholarship recipients,
also FACA All State and Rise Magazine All Area players. The WPU team is
also proud of several of their other players committed to the following
soccer programs: Brittany Bucknor, a recent transfer from FSU to UM,
Dina Roper to Embry-Riddle, Kayla Johnson to Columbus State (GA),
Chelsea Mosko & Melissa Malone to Gardner-Webb (NC), and joining Allie
at Barry is Holly Bain.
