Weston Wild looks forward to next season

Weston – While this weekend’s tryouts for the 2008-2009 Weston Wild Select (AYSO Region 644) marks the beginning of a new season, it also signals the end of an amazing year for the U9 Girls (Lawson). In their first season, the girls posted a 21-5-4 record, reaching the playoff round in five out of six of the tournaments they entered.



The defense was the team’s foundation. Together with the fullbacks, Shelby Kean, Jessica Roman, and Emma Sanchez-Winckelmann, the goaltending notched several shutouts in both tournament and friendly play. “Samantha [Sclafani] and Camila [Tussie] made several big stops keeping us in games” Coach Lawson proudly points out.



The Wild forwards brought an unrelenting intensity to every game. Julia Fischgrund, Sammy Lawson, Mary Matamoros, Cassidy Morgan, and Shelly Rapp “peppered” their opponents goaltenders all season. “With the success we had last season, expectations are high for 2008-2009”, said Lawson.
