Lofton-Malachi Earns W-League Honor
6/12/08
TAMPA, Fla. – University of South Florida junior goalkeeper Mallori
Lofton-Malachi was selected to the United Soccer League (USL) W-League
honorable mention team of the week on June 4.
The award was for the seventh week of the USL season and the fourth
edition of the W-League Team of the Week for the year.
Lofton-Malachi notched honorable mention honors for this week’s W-League
Team of the Week after her 9-save, 0-goals allowed performance in the
first half of a 1-0 win against the Richmond Kickers Destiny. She has
appeared in five games for the Hellenic on the season and has notched
226 minutes of action.
“We are really excited about Mallori’s training ethics this summer,”
said USF head coach Denise Schilte-Brown. “We have very high
expectations for her in the 2008 fall season.”
The W-League is USL’s highest level of women’s soccer in the US and
Canada. It is an open league, giving college players the opportunity to
play alongside established international players while maintaining their
collegiate eligibility. The W-League features some of the top players in
the world; 54 current and former W-League players participated in the
2007 Women’s World Cup in China representing nine countries and 17
current W-League teams.
You can check out Mallori and the Tampa Bay Hellenic when they take on
the West Virginia Illusion at 8 p.m. on Friday June 13 at Ed Radice
Field.
