9/23/08

Boca Raton - The Honorable Susan Whelchel, Mayor of Boca Raton, presented the Team Boca Girls Under 15 team with a City Proclamation today in honor of their winning the 2008 FYSA State Championship. The team and coaches were presented with the Proclamation during the Boca Raton City Council meeting. Mayor Whelchel also presented each player and coach with their 2008 State Championship ring. "Mayor Whelchel spent many years on our Team Boca sidelines as a proud parent herself. Her daughter Kristy played for us at Team Boca and earned a scholarship to play soccer at Duke University" said Bill D'Addio, Team Boca Director. "Kristy was also a member of a Team Boca State Championship team and I know Mayor Whelchel has a special regard for our program and very graciously acknowledged such in her presentation to our Girls Under 15 team" said D'Addio.

This team has been selected to participate in the coveted US National league, in which only the top teams in the country were chosen. They are also currently playing in the Region 3 Premier League, and will be traveling to Raleigh, NC, in December to play in the Raleigh Shootout, one of the most competitive tournaments in the country.
