U-11 Through U-14 Florida Cup Champions Crowned

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (Sept. 24, 2008) – Ten teams played their way to Florida Cup championships in the U-11 through U-14 boys’ and girls’ age groups this past weekend at the Seacrest Soccer Complex and Miller Park in Delray Beach, Fla.

Of the six West Pines United teams that participated in the event, five squads collected championships to go along with a finalist showing in the U-14 Super Group.

Pinecrest Premier also experienced success, with a championship and two finalist teams, and South Florida Elite captured a championship as well as a runner-up honor.

“Florida Cup was a great experience for my team,” said Henry Pedraza, coach of the West Pines United U-14 boys’ team. “We were able to see where we are compared to other teams in the area. The competition and organization of the tournament was good, and we are very happy to have attended.”
