Freshman Nicholas Robson tallies two more goals for the Knights

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) – Freshman Nicholas Robson (Auckland, New Zealand) scored two more goals Saturday night for UCF (6-7-3, 2-5-1 C-USA), but visiting No. 12 Tulsa (11-4-2, 6-1-1 C-USA) had too much firepower as the Knights fell 6-2 in their season finale at the UCF Soccer Complex.

The highly-ranked Golden Hurricane clinched the Conference USA regular season championship with the victory and will host the C-USA Championship beginning Nov. 13.

UCF had a chance to get on the scoreboard first in the second minute of the game, but a penalty kick by sophomore Kevan George (Decatur, Ga.) missed wide left.

Tulsa dented the scoreboard in the 23rd minute of the game, when Austin Neil scored in close after passes from Ashley McInnes and Kilian Poeschk.

In a three-minute stretch in the first half, Tulsa increased its lead to 3-0 with goals from Blaine Gonsalves and McInnes in the 34th and 36th minutes respectively.

Robson tallied the first of his two goals in the 42nd minute to give the Knights a goal heading into halftime. Freshman Adam Kraemer (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) played a beautiful ball over the top which Robson ran down before beating the keeper one-on-one.

Tulsa’s Justin Chavez scored in the 55th minute to give the Golden Hurricane a 4-1 edge, and three goals in the final 10 minutes.

Robson’s second goal of the night and eighth of the season came in the 89th minute, when the freshman again got behind the Tulsa defense for a through ball and beat the keeper to the far post. Junior Yaron Bacher (Atlanta, Ga.) and freshman Michele Martucci (Miami, Fla.)

With eight goals and six assists, Robson finished the season with 22 points and led UCF in all three categories. He also fired a team-high 47 shots, including six on Saturday with five on goal.
