FSU Hosts Notre Dame
The Seminoles will face the Irish in the quarterfinals on Friday,
November 27 at 2:00 p.m.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The city of Tallahassee will be treated to a
post-Thanksgiving matinee on Friday, November 27 at 2:00 p.m. inside the
Seminole Soccer Complex. The featured presentation: sixth-ranked Florida
State (19-4-1) vs. fifth-ranked Notre Dame (20-3-1) in the quarterfinals
of the 2009 NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship.
For the second year in a row, these two schools will square-off with a
trip to the College Cup on the line. Friday’s showdown marks the fourth
consecutive year that the Noles and Irish will meet in the NCAA
Tournament.
Notre Dame leads the all-time series 2-1-0 as the Irish defeated the
Seminoles 2-0 in South Bend a season ago. This year marks the first time
the two schools will meet in Tallahassee.
Florida State advanced to the quarterfinals following a dramatic
come-from-behind, double overtime victory over Texas A&M (2-1, 2ot) last
Friday. The Seminoles defeated Southeastern Louisiana (W, 4-1) and
California (W, 3-0) in the first and second rounds, respectively. Notre
Dame reached the quarterfinals following a 1-0 victory over Oregon State
in South Bend last Friday. The Irish posted first and second round
victories over IUPUI (5-0) and Central Michigan (6-1).
Tickets for Friday’s third round match are currently on sale and can be
purchased over the phone at 888-FSU-NOLE, in person at the Seminole
Ticket Office located in side C of the University Center and online at
seminoles.com. Tickets can also be purchased at the Seminole Soccer
Complex beginning at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, November 27.
