FSU Welcomes Sky Blue FC The defending WPS champions will train
for two weeks in Tallahassee at the Seminole Soccer Complex beginning
Wednesday, March 10.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Sky Blue FC, the 2009
defending Women’s Professional Soccer league champions, are coming to
Tallahassee. The team from New York/New Jersey will train for two weeks
in Tallahassee on the campus of Florida State University at the Seminole
Soccer Complex beginning Wednesday, March 10.
First year head
coach Paulina Miettinen returns to Tallahassee, where she served as an
assistant for two years under current Florida State head coach Mark
Krikorian. During her time with the Seminoles, Miettinen helped guide
the Garnet and Gold to back-to-back College Cup appearances.
Featured players on Sky Blue FC include Carli Lloyd, 2008 U.S. Soccer
Female Player of the Year, Natasha Kai, former North Carolina standouts
Heather O’Reilly, Yael Averbuch and Nikki Washington and Brazilian star
Rosana.
Fans will get a chance to see Sky Blue FC in action when
the defending champs taking on Florida State in a scrimmage beginning at
7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17 inside the Seminole Soccer Complex.
Admission to the event is free.
The two clubs will then team up
to offer a free youth skills clinic on Sunday, March 21 at the Seminole
Soccer Complex. The clinic is open to all youth in the 8th grade or
lower and will begin promptly at 3:30 p.m.
