Sarah COy invited to ECNL/id2 Camp

CHARLESTON, S.C. (Feb. 2, 2011) – Bringing together a group of the best female youth soccer players from around the country born in 1994 and 1995, the 2011 ECNL/id2 National Training Camp will take place Feb. 10-13 on the campus of Florida State University in Tallahassee, Fla. The camp is a joint effort between the Elite Clubs National League’s Player ID Program and US Club Soccer’s id2 national player identification and development program.

A total of 83 players, (43 born in 1994 and 40 born in 1995), representing 44 clubs are slated to attend the camp. In addition to six on-field training sessions or games played in front of U.S. National Team staff and a wide range of college coaches, participants will have the opportunity to attend educational presentations.

The only cost to players involved is that of travel to and from the National Training Camp. All lodging, meals and training gear are provided by the ECNL, US Club Soccer and Nike. Included in the National Training Camp will be special appearances and presentations from former Olympic and World Cup-winning players.

Sarah Coy (95), who plays soccer for A.C. DELRAY and American Heritage Prep (Delray), has been requested to attend the Elite Club National League (ECNL) id2 National Camp. Sarah Coy is the only player in the State of Florida to receive an invite for this id2 National Soccer Event. Sarah will be reunited with her 2008 id2 Texas Camp roommate, U.S. National Team U17 standout, Lindsey Horan (94), from Colorado Rush. This is Sarah Coy's third id2 National selection, and her first ECNL id2 National Selection.

Players attending the ECNL/id2 National Training Camp will also have the unique opportunity to be educated about their physical performance during matches and training sessions using GPS technology. Dr. Jason Vescovi, an applied sport scientist with over a decade of experience evaluating athletic performance in female soccer players, will use GPS technology to educate players on the physical demands of the game from the youth to professional level, and ways in which they can improve their own standards and performances.

“This camp will not only be a tremendous developmental experience for the players, but it should also be an experience they will remember for the rest of their lives,” said ECNL President and US Club Soccer Executive Vice President Christian Lavers. “Our goal was to identify the best players in the country, put them in a position to showcase their ability against one another, and then provide an unmatched educational experience through discussions with some of the best female players ever to play the game and instruction by top level coaches – and I think we have done that.”

“This camp will once again provide a great opportunity for players from all around the country to come together and perform in front of U.S. Soccer staff and college coaches,” said Rory Dames, US Club Soccer’s id2 Girls’ Program Director. “I am very excited to see the players compete with each other in a challenging environment and for them to have the chance to learn from our great guests and staff members.”
