Sunrise Girls Lose First Game of the Season

Sunrise, Florida (December 20, 2005) - The u13 Fire lost tonight to the Plantation Eagles 1-0. Sunrise had the better of play until about midway through the first half. At that point, the game evened out and the Eagles managed to dominate for some portions. Late in the first half the ball was cleared out of the 18 by Sunrise but it was hit right at the Eagles Brianna Stampler who shot the ball on a high line drive into the top of the net from about 30 yards out.

Sunrise had a few decent chances in the second half but could not finish. The Sunrise passing game seemed pretty crisp, but the Eagles probably out hustled Sunrise tonight. The Fire played with no subs. The Eagles went home with the 1-0 win.

This was the first loss of the season for the entire Sunrise girls soccer program.

On Saturday, the u13s defeated Jensen Beach 1-0. The u13s are now 3-1-1. For the u13 Eagles, they improve to 3-2. The two teams meet again on January 22 at Central Park.

Sunrise returns to action on December 27 in the Orange Classic.
