Sunrise Soccer

February 5, 2006 - The three Sunrise girls teams will be traveling together to compete in the Gator Showcase. The Gator Showcase is one of the top rated tournaments in the state and all three teams will get the chance to play against very good competition.

The u13 division features five top 20 teams. In addition to our Sunrise Fire, Melbourne (#4), Naples (#10), PBU (#16) and CFU (#17) are all competing. Gainesville is ranked 27th in the state.

The u9s will be playing up one year in this tournament, competing with our u10s against some good competition. Fortunately, both teams are in separate brackets. Included in this age group is CFU. They recently won the Orange Classic, defeating West Pines in the championship. Palm Harbor, has a current record of 7-2 in the "A" division of the USA League, which is a Tampa area league. They also are winners of the Palm Harbor Classic and the Adidas Columbus Day Classic. Vero Beach won the Brevard County Travel championship. Creeks Clash just won the Ormond Beach Challenge.

UF Tour

All three of our teams will get a tour of campus and the soccer facilities given by a current UF player on Saturday at 4:00.

UF Alumni Game
The UF Soccer team's Alumni weekend is the same weekend of our tourney!  Many of the graduated players come back to see each other and play in a special Old Gators vs. Current Gators match.  This year's match is scheduled to start around 5:00, and is open to all of our tournament players, parents, coaches and families.  The game is free of charge. The Gators have three former players on the US National team, including Abby Wambach, so hopefully they will be there.
 
UF/FSU Game
After the alumni game is another special treat!  The FSU Seminoles, just off their first ever Collegiate Final Four appearance, are coming to town to play their heated rivals, the University of Florida Gators!  The game has been arranged just for our Gator Showcase participants and guests!  It is scheduled to start at 7:00 and is also free of charge.

1. Florida Turnpike North to I-75 (about 250 miles - estimate)
2. Go north on I-75 for about 60 miles (estimate)
3. Take the SR-24 exit 384 (Archer Road)
4. Turn left on Archer Road (go .1 miles)
5. Turn right on SW 43rd Street (go .1 miles)

From the Hotel to Kanapaha Park per Mapquest (about 3.65 miles/15 minutes):

1. Turn right (west) on Archer Road (2.1m)
2. Turn right on to  SW 75 St/Tower Road (1.2m)
3. Turn right on to SW 41st Pl (.1 m)
4. The fields are on the left

From the Hotel to Forrest Park per Mapquest (about 2 miles/10 minutes)

1. Turn left (east) on to Archer Road (.3 miles)
2. Turn left on to SW 40th Street (.3 miles)
3. Turn right on to SW 42nd St (.6 miles)
4. SW 42nd St becomes SW 43rd St (.4 miles)
5. Turn left onto SW 20th Ave (.1 miles)
END AT 4501 SW 20 Ave, Gainesville, Fl 32607

From the Hotel to the UF Soccer Stadium:

1. Turn left (east) on to Archer Road
2. Go to SW 34th Street and make a left.
3. Go to SW 2nd Avenue and make a right.
4. Go to Woodlawn Dr (just pass the tennis complex) and make a right.
5. The soccer stadium is on the left.
