U9s and U12s Win McDonald's 3v3 Super Challenge, U10 Play Tough Against Stiff Competition

Miramar, Florida (May 21, 2006) - The Sunrise girls entered both the u9 and u10 teams in the McDonalds 3v3 Super Challenge. In addition, Gus Camacho, coach of the u13 team, entered a u12 team that was composed of players from Kendall and Weston in addition to Sunrise. Both the u9s and the u12s won the championships. The u10s, facing some very high level competition,  played competitively in every game but had a harder time in terms of wins and losses.

The u9s, champions of this tournament last year, successfully defended their title by winning the tournament for the second straight year. The girls have really improved and are playing 3v3 at a very high level right now (for u9s). The team is getting significant contributions from all team members and all of the players had multiple goals during the weekend. The Sting won all five of the games that they played in at this tournament, scoring 46 goals and allowing 6. The girls defeated Weston for the championship.

The u9s have now won five tournaments in a row, all in the last 7 weeks. The combined record of the Sting for these five tournaments is 21-0-1. The team's unbeaten streak against same age competition now stands at 25 games.

The u10s also had a successful tournament, although not in terms of wins and losses. The u10s ended up with a very tough schedule, and had to face Plantation Gold and the Palm Beach Nomads two times. These are both high level division 1 teams. Despite that, the girls were competitive in these games and showed signs of excellent play in all of these matches. The 10s continue to develop and improve and the team will continue to play skilled opponents to help in this process.

The u12s had an easy tournament and won all of their games including the championship by huge margins.
