SUNRISE SOCCER
Work Hard, GET GOOD
U10 Sunrise Magic Take Cooper City u11/u12s to PKs
Parkland, Florida (August 13, 2006) - The u11 and u10 Sunrise teams split into
three squads of six playing under the names of the Magic (u10), Flash (u10/u11)
and the Heat (u11) at the Parkland Firecracker 5v5. We entered the tournament to
have a lot of fun and give our new players a feel for competitive soccer.
The tournament was a good introduction for these new girls. The Flash played
with three new players, the Heat played with two, and the Magic had one. All of
the teams gained valuable experience and did pretty well. The Magic was the
surprise of the group, even though they were the youngest team in the
tournament, they won their division to set up a game against Cooper City in the
semi-finals.
The Cobras were made up of u11 and u12 players. The u10 Magic took a 1-0 lead
and held a 2-1 lead when the Cobras tied the game with about two minutes
remaining. The teams played through two overtimes with no score which led to a
PK shootout. The older and stronger Cobras won that to advance.
It was a great performance by the Magic against a good Cooper City team. The
Magic played some beautiful soccer at the tournament. Congratulations to Cooper
City for their performance.
