Haleigh Stremanos Wins a National Award
Haleigh is named the Super-Y League Player of
the Week
August 28, 2006 -
Haleigh Stremanos, a forward on our u14 Premier team, was named the
Super Y-League Player of the Week. Stremanos won the award for scoring
both goals in her Super-Y team's 2-1 victory over Schulz Academy. This is a
national award. The award goes to one female player and one male player each
week.
Haleigh's Super-Y team, which plays under the Kendall name, is led by Sunrise
coach Gus Camacho. About half of the team is made up of Sunrise players. The
team is playing for the national championship this November against teams from
Atlanta, Southern California and New Jersey.
Haleigh lives and has grown up in the Upper Keys, she helped lead the Upper
Keys AYSO girls program to three straight state championships as well as
this years National Championship that was held in Chicago. This
summer she played on the Heat, a 3v3 team that won the Challenge Sports
National Championships at Disney. She was a also a member of the Kendall
SC team that won the Flugsa Championship last year. Haleigh plays on the
Olympic Development (ODP) ‘93 team.
