U10s finish tied for first place in U11 Palm Beach
League
U14 Select team places second.
October 29, 2006 - The u10 Sunrise Sting concluded the season in the Palm
Beach League today. The team played up one year in the u11 division and got
their first taste of 8v8. The Sting finished with a record of 7-1-0 and tied the
highly rated u11 Boca United Gold team for first place. The teams split the
season series, each winning by a 2-0 score on their home field.
Sunrise scored 21 goals and allowed only five across eight games. The team
shutout out their opponents in five of their eight matches.
The team's primary goals were to improve as a team, to
execute the skills the girls have been taught, to get loads of experience
against older and more skilled opponents and for the players to get lots of
playing time all over the field. The team accomplished these goals.
The u14 Select team, a new team just formed over the summer, finished in second
place with a record of 6-2. Jensen Beach finished in first with a 6-1-1 mark.
The team scored 20 goals, which was the most in the league, and allowed nine.
