Weekend Recap
Sunrise, Florida (December 3, 2006) - The Sunrise girls teams went a combined
5-0 on the weekend. The u14 Premier girls won two games, sparked by the
return of forward Tatiana Penagus. Tatiana, who was injured at the Disney
Showcase Qualifier, made her presence known this weekend in a big way scoring
five goals and leading the team to victories over Jensen Beach (5-1) and Naples
(3-0). The Premier team is now 3-1.
The u14 Select team defeated the Renegades 2-1. The girls held a 1-0 lead late
into the second half when the Renegades came back to tie the game. But with 45
seconds remaining, Sunrise had a free kick about 10 yards outside the left end
of the box. Haleigh Stremanos hit a strike that landed inside the right upper 90
to nail the win for Sunrise. The Select team is now 3-0.
The u11 girls played the Eagles for the second time in three weeks with the
identical result, a 1-0 win. Both games were close. The u11s are now 3-0.
The u10s met PBU at home on Sunday. Last year, PBU was the only team to hand
Sunrise a defeat in FLUGSA play as PBU won that game 1-0. This was another
exciting game, the Sting took a 2-0 lead going into half-time but PBU scored
twice at the beginning of the second half to tie the game. The girls played
great in the final 10 minutes and scored two goals for the win.
The girls teams are now 11-1 on the season.
