Both Sunrise Teams Advance into the Elite Eight

Wellington, Florida (May 5, 2007) - The u14 girls defeated RSL Florida (Tampa) 1-0. In the 51st minute, the ball was cleared wide by RSL out of their 18 to their left side defender. Sunrise forward Tatiana Penagus gave immediate chase and completely surprised the RSL defender and took the ball away from behind. That gave Tatiana a couple of seconds to bring the ball in towards the 18. Tatiana calmly laid out a beautiful cross that split two RSL defenders horizontally and landed right at the feet of an oncoming Haleigh Stemanos. Stremanos smoothly one touched the ball into the net to give Sunrise the lead and the 1-0 win.

The boys had an easy time defeating the Renegades 5-1.

The girls now play Plantation at 8:00 on Sunday at Wellington. The winner moves on to the final four. The boys play at 11:00 against Team Boca at Weston.
