Sunrise Captures Two Crowns at the McDonald's 3v3 Super Challenge

Miramar, Fl (May 13, 2007) - The Sunrise Soccer Club entered five girls’ teams in the McDonalds 3v3 Super Challenge and the club captured two crowns. The girls won the u14 and the u10 division and also had success in the u11 and u8 age groups.

The u14 Sunrise Fire went 5-0 on the day. The girls outscored their opponents 52-5 and picked up two wins over Kendall, two over the u16 Hammerheads and one over PBU on their way to the championship.  The u11 girls had two wins on the day. The girls defeated Florida Red Star and also had a big win over one of the Eagles teams. The girls finished in fourth place out of a field of seven. The u10 team split into two in order to field two teams and to give all of our players a chance to compete. One team was called the Sprint and the other the Sting. The Sprint went 5-0 and won the title. The girls topped Florida Premier for championship. The Sting finished in fourth place. The Sting had to play the Sprint in a semi-final contest which dropped them out of championship contention. Overall, given the split in talent, both teams performed well and the girls got lots of touches on the ball. It was the third year in a row that the u10s have won this tournament. The u8 girls, playing in their second 3v3, finished in second place. The girls had a great tournament but let the first half of their last game get away from them, causing them to fall in the title game. Most important, the 8s had a lot of fun and learned more about competitive soccer.

Special thanks to all of the Sunrise mom’s for celebrating Mother’s Day on the fields!!
