Weekend Recap
Sunrise, Florida (August 26, 2007) - The Sunrise girls teams had a good weekend
going 4-2 in league play and 1-0-1 in exhibition matches.
U18 Girls Split
The u18 girls defeated Weston 1-0 and lost to CTC 0-4.
Both U15 Teams Win
The u15 (92/93) Premier team defeated West Pines in Florida State League play on
Saturday by a score of 3-0. On Sunday, the u15 (92/93) Select team faced off
against Hobe Sound and won 3-2.
U11s defeat a good U12 team
The 96/97 u11 team opened up their season against the u12 Jupiter Sting. Jupiter
presented a formidable challenge to the 96/97 girls, not only because of their
size, but this team had good speed and skill. This was one of the few games
where the u11s were out shot, as Jupiter had a 19-14 shot advantage. But Sunrise
was more opportunistic and that led the team to a 3-1 win.
U12s drop opener
The u12 girls lost to Boca United Gold. Gold is a really good team and their
ball movement and experience put the u12s away as the game went deeper and
deeper into the second half. Sara Bowden, guest playing as keeper for the u12s
team, played a good game against this tough opponent.
U14s win exhibition match against Weston
The u14s played an exhibition match against Weston on Friday night. The team
won 3-2.
U9s play first 6v6 game and tie
The new u9 team played their first 6v6 game ever against Wellington on Sunday. In fact, they never even played or practiced on a 6v6 field until this scrimmage. The girls were down 3-0, but battled back and the game ended in a 4-4 tie.
