WEEKEND RECAP
Sunrise U14 girls reach Tournament finals in debut
10/7/2007 - Sunrise unveiled their new U14 girls team at the Naples Sharks Shootout over Columbus Day weekend in Naples, FL. "These girls have a long way to go, but their effort and their passion for the game was evident this past weekend", says Coach Camacho. They will make a lot of noise this year as they grow and develop. These girls just wanted a chance to show what they can do and if this weekend is any indication they will have a great year. Camacho says he is still learning the players and they are still learning what he is expecting of them.
Sunrise started the tournament with 2-2 tie against a tough
Florida Premier, followed by a 0-0 tie with Naples. Sunday provided a good 3-1
victory over the Spartans and a trip into the finals against a ranked Naples
team. Naples experience proved too much for Sunrise in the finals winning 2-1
and giving Sunrise a second place finish. This team has a lot of potential and
a never say die attitude. The improvements over these last couple months have
been amazing and they are looking forward to the upcoming FLUGSA season. Next
up for these girls is the Wellington Tournament, Oct 13-14.

U11s Trounced by U12 Boca United Gold
The u11 girls suffered their worst defeat in team history, dropping a 5-1
decision against the U12 Boca United Gold team. The u11s had a show stopping
performance at the FLUGSA jamboree on Saturday, but Sunday brought them quickly
back to earth. BU Gold is a true division 1 u12 team and the u11s could not
match Gold's huge edge in physical play, speed and skill. Despite the score, the
team actually felt good about how they performed. The girls seemed to improve as
the game went on and by halftime, were playing some good ball, moving it around
well, and getting good penetration against Gold. It was a good experience to
play against such a talented team and the game represented another step on the
path to becoming a better team.
