U14 GIRLS WELLINGTON TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS!
October 14, 2007
Not only was the weather great, but the U14
Sunrise Fire played great this weekend up in Wellington. First game against
Stuart Breakers was a challenge with a half time score of 2-1. Second half
Stuart’s corner kick was put in by us, ending the game as a tie 2-2. Second game
later that day was against Palm Beach United (ranked 9th in state).
What an exciting game! Sunrise Fire took the field with hopes of just a good
showing, but instead controlled the game from the first minute with halftime at
4-0. Second half of game PBU came back fighting but could not get past our
defense. Both teams played very physical and determined but PBU’s only goal came
from a penalty kick (from a hand ball in box) with final score of 4-1.
The 3rd game was against Weston Swoosh. Although they are Weston’s “B” team they had a lot of skill, well coached and lots of potential. While they tried to stop our forwards by double teaming and triple teaming, forwards became creative and prevailed. Sunrise Fire was too much for them with over 10 shots on goal and end score of 3-0.
The final was Sunrise Fire (winner of our group) and Weston Swoosh (winner of their group). Once again, we took the field with dominance and controlled the game. Our defense stopped a couple of breakaways to end in a shut-out. Final score 3-0.
Congratulations to each and every player on this team! They all give $110%,
play as a team and the results show it. On to West Pines Tournament next
weekend.
