The 96/97 (u11) Sting wraps up the Palm Beach League Season
The girls finish in second place in the u12 division
October 21, 2007 - The u11 Sting played their last game of the 2007 Palm
Beach league season and won by a 3-0 score over the u12 Wellington Wave. This
avenged an earlier upset when Wellington beat the Sting 2-1. In that game,
Sunrise had a huge shot advantage but Wellington managed to pull out the win.
That was not the case today, as the girls have been playing (almost) mistake
free soccer of late, and it showed in the final result.
The u11s finished with an overall record of 5-2-1 and will end up in second
place. The team faced strong u12 competition, and with the exception of one
game, more than held their own. The competition included playing four games
against u12 division 1 teams, and the u11s managed a 2-1-1 mark in those games.
The team's lifetime record "playing up" one year is now 20-4-1.
The team improved throughout the course of the season, and the Palm Beach League
was a good opportunity for all of the players to get on the field and practice
their skills. The team will now turn their attention to the upcoming
FLUGSA season.
