Weekend Recap
U12s, u11s and u9s start FLUGSA season on a positive note
November 11, 2007 - The four Sunrise girls teams went 3-0-1 this weekend. For the u12s, u11s and u9s, it was opening weekend. The u14s opened last weekend with two games and had their third game of the season on Saturday.
The 96/97 (u11) team was anxious to return to the field after a layoff of a few weeks and it showed as the team came out on fire and scored a couple of quick goals. Five different players scored and everyone played in positions all over the field. The girls won 8-0 over Team Boca. Sara Bowden and Julia Kingsley combined for the shutout.
The 98/99 (u9) opened up under the lights on Thursday night. The team
scored five first half goals and added four more in the second half. Four
different players scored for the Sting in a 9-3 victory over the Eagles.
Sunrise’s U14 girls team has started the season with a great record so far. With just two weekends into the season there record is 2 wins 1 loss. First game of the season against South Kendall was totally dominated by Sunrise with a final score of just 2-0. Just couldn’t get the ball in the net but had many shots on goal. Second game of season was against Florida Premier. They were a very physical team. All of their goals were by free kicks. Final Score was Sunrise 2 Fla Premier 3. Third game was against Stuart. Sunrise played Stuart in the first game at the Wellington Tournament and tied 2-2. This time was totally different. While Stuart was just playing long ball , Sunrise passed and moved the ball beautifully with a final score of Sunrise 4 , Stuart 0.With each game this team has improved and continues to improve.
