April 26, 2008 - The 07/08 (u9) girls win West Pines
Shootout 5v5 Tournament

Coming off back to back tournament championships the
Sunrise Sting u9 girls entered the West Pines Shootout
looking to capture their 3rd in a row.

Led by the offense of Bella Dorosy, Julia Grosso,
Nikki Westerlind, Mollie Wallick and Olivia Estevez the
Sting Girls defeated their first three opponents 4-0,
1-0 and 2-0.

The defense again came up Big, led by Bella Orsi,
Cameron Moody-(also contributed with a goal), Madiya
Harriott and anchored by goalie Riley Perez. They
played incredible not allowing any goals en route to
three consecutive shutouts and a spot in the
championship game.

The championship game was against a very good
Plantation Team which the Sting Girls defeated in
their first game of the day 4-0. This time around
Plantation was ready and played very tough. Neither
team could put the ball in the net and ended
regulation tied 0-0 sending the game into overtime.
With less than a minute left in overtime the Sting
made their move. Bella Dorosy stole the ball at mid
field and drove towards the net. She blasted a shot
off of a Plantation defender sending the ball toward
the corner, Julia Grosso raced over and with two
Plantation defenders on her made two spectacular moves
to get by them, drove towards the net and shot it
passed the goalie for a dramatic overtime victory and
their 3rd Championship in a row!!!
