2010 PRESIDENT'S CUP CHAMPIONS

The U-16 Girls, as winners of Division I Region A Cup, had the honor of representing Region A in the 2010 President's Cup at Lake Myrtle Complex in Auburndale, FL. In the semi-final game the team defeated last year’s runner up, EMERALD COAST UNITED, 3 to 0 with three goals from Jessica Hoyt. Our defense was tough not allowing anyone past them. Goal keeper Julianna Freay touched the ball only when she would receive a pass back from the defenders.
In the championship, the team
was set to face a very tough opponent, FLORIDA REVOLUTION, they were coming into
the game after a come back win against FIRST COAST KYX 3 to 1. From the start of
the game our team had their hands full. The first half neither team would score,
our goalie Julianna shut down four promising attacks, it was a back and forth
game. In the second half Sunrise
maintained the ball on the Revolution half of the field, with 8 minutes left in
regular time our forwards pressed the defense and Monique Eloi recovered the
ball about 20 yards out and blasted a shot into left
corner for the first goal. With two
minutes left in the game Kassie received a pass from Jessica and she tucked it
in the lower left corner of the goal to seal the win and declare them self the
2010 President's Cup champions.
